Elizabeth Jean Douglas

Betty was born in Carberry, Manitoba, to Lisle Alexander Grant and Catherine (Campbell) Grant. She was educated in Vancouver, and while visiting her brother in Military Hospital, met John Taylor Douglas. Both men served in Hong Kong and were prisoners of war for several years.

Betty and John were married in 1947. She was a longtime resident of Nanaimo prior to moving to Vernon 20 years ago. Betty was predeceased by her husband in 1992; by son John S. Douglas in 2008; and by daughter Lori Douglas in 2009. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by son Jeff Douglas of Kelowna.

Honouring Betty’s wishes, there will be no public service held. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in her memory to Branch 25 Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
