Hazel Friesen

1945 - 2012

Following a brief battle with cancer, Hazel passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side during the morning hours of Tuesday, April 10th, 2012.

Hazel is survived by her beloved family: husband David; daughter, Karen (Rick Cooper) of Lavington; son, Andrew (Katherine Clayton) of Calgary; stepson, Russ Friesen of Winfield; stepdaughter, Kelly Friesen of Kelowna; grandchildren, Melissa Cooper, Jason Cooper, Alexis Friesen, and, “Sarah” the rescue dog. She was predeceased by her brothers, Eric and Ted Chalke, and by her parents, Edward and Winifred Chalke.

Hazel was a loving and caring person who enjoyed spending time in her garden. She cherished the spare hours spent outdoors; especially those spent in Kalamalka Park. Hazel and Dave enjoyed extensive travel throughout Central and South America. She will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Major Phil Franco officiating. A reception will follow in the Tea Room.
