

John was born in Neepawa, Man. in 1925. He attended school there and later married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Bernice Cruikshank. John joined the RCAF and fought for his country for three years as an air gunner. He and Bernice married and raised three children: Wendy Louise Piccini (Randy), John Anthony (Jacqui) and Margaret Kathleen LeBeuf (Kam Chow) and raised a second son, Steven Kenneth.
John is survived by one sister, Marjorie Hosler and sister-in-law Patricia Tyler. He has six wonderful grandchildren: Tyler Piccini (Natasha) with baby Jude, Trevor Piccini (Jamie) with son Keith, Timon Piccini (Kelli), Tanis Piccini (Ryan), Sandy Tyler (Jordan) and Derek LeBeuf.
John started a career as a Boy Scout Executive n Winnipeg, transferring to Vancouver for sixteen more years. He followed a longtime dream by attending UBC and becoming a United Church minister at Chown Memorial Church in Vancouver. After his retirement to Vernon he continued his ministry for three more years at Lumby United Church.
John made many friends in Vernon through golfing, curling, woodcarving and square dancing, and celebrated 65 years of “a fun marriage”. He will be loved and missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 5, at 1:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church. Officiating are Doctor Ed Millen, Mr. Brian Jackson, and Mr. Tyler Piccini. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of John to North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
