Born on September 18, 1990, Sam lived a life marked by loyalty, honesty, kindness and an unwavering devotion to his family. Sam loved the outdoors - fishing, boating and dirt biking.
A skilled handyman, he could fix just about anything. Sam took pride in preparing and serving gourmet meals for family and friends. After becoming a father, his favourite activities were with his boys, building Lego, camping at Echo Lake and biking with them tucked into a tandem chariot. Sam found pure joy in dressing up as Santa at Christmas and handing out candy canes to the students of Coldstream Elementary School.
Sam began his time in the workforce in sales - a field which suited his personality. He then worked alongside his father at their company SamKen, building pre-engineered steel foundations. He finished his career working in Maintenance for School District #22.
Swimming for the Kokanee Swim Club, Sam distinguished himself in the freestyle events, setting a number of records during the early 2000’s that still stand today. Sam was known for his huge smile, steady hands and gentle heart but more importantly for the deep love he had for his wife and cherished sons who were his absolute pride and joy.
Sam is survived by his wife Sarah; sons Silas and Spencer; Mother Janice; sisters Tara (Nate) Champness; Tilea (T.C.) Macaulay; and Jamie Trueman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Sam was predeceased by his father Kenneth Ivanitz in 2019.
We would like to thank the staff of the ICU at VJH for their kindness and compassion during Sam’s final days.
As per Sam’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. His ashes will be spread by his family alongside his father’s.
In his all too short time on earth, Sam made his mark. He will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Rest easy Sam.
We love you.
