Thelma Marie Burns

Thelma Marie (Stephan) Burns, age 94 of Minster, Ohio passed away peacefully at 4:30 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen. Thelma was born in Darke County on July 2, 1928, she was the only child to the late Ernest W. and Eva Alice (Sheets) Stephan.

Thelma was an active member at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Star, Ohio; she enjoyed making table favors for the Christmas and Mothers Day banquets; she was a member of the New Bremen Senior Citizens; she made quilts for Mission work and loved to garden.

In addition to his parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Burns on May 22, 2021 whom she married August 11, 1946; her son Roger Burns and son-in-law Larry Rismiller.

Thelma is survived by her children Virgil & Lynda Burns; Bonnie Rismiller; Joyce & Jon Parin; Marlin & Lisa Burns; Denise & Doug Jutte; Theresa & Tony Speelman: grandchildren Kim & Brad Waterman; Jodi & Rob Stolzenberger; Brian & Julie Rismiller; Rob & Krista Rismiller; Kelly & Kevin Wuebker; Aaron & Shayla Speelman; Marisa & Bill Roeser; Amanda Speelman; Hannah & Jake Coverstone; Lauren & Kyle Wuebker; Allison Jutte & Fiancée Jake Ferilto; Cassie & Darren Subler: and 21 great- grandchildren; and her special cousin Bernie Niekamp.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 13495 Greenville St. Mary’s Road, North Star, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Jeffery Gramza officiating . Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, North Star. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North Star, Ohio.
