

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing March 23, 2025 of our father Alastair Gordon McNair MacIsaac, aged 95. He was preceded in death by our mother, Dorothy Lamberdina Folmer MacIsaac, his parents John J. F. and Mary McNair MacIsaac, his sister Mary MacIsaac Smith, his brother Ronald MacIsaac and numerous relatives and in-laws. He is survived by his children, Mary Ellen of Tennessee, Mark Douglas (Wendy Sauvé) and Ronald Alastair MacIsaac of Edmonton, by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and by his sister Elizabeth MacIsaac of Saskatoon and his brother Roderick (Maria) MacIsaac of Edmonton.
Alastair was born and raised in Prince Albert SK and served as an officer in the Canadian Army (Artillery) for almost 30 years, with postings in Victoria BC, Sudbury ON, Camp Petawawa ON, Ottawa ON, the Wellington Military Staff College in India, Canadian Defense Liaison Staff in Washington DC and as Commandant of the Nanaimo Military Base. After retiring from the military, he served as Commandant of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for Vancouver Island for 16 years, and as aide-de-camp to Lieutenant-Governors Garde Gardom and Iona Campagnolo.
Alastair was a 26-year volunteer at the Victoria Hospice which afforded him much personal satisfaction. He was a lifelong Roman Catholic and a contributor to the establishment of the Holy Cross Parish in Victoria.
We express our deepest gratitude to the Community and Hospice nurses who made it possible for Alastair to be cared for in his home. Thanks to all whose prayers and expressions of friendship added comfort in his final days.
The funeral mass for Alastair and Dorothy MacIsaac will be held at 11:00 am on April 12, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Victoria.
