It was a privilege for Maria and I to have known Alastair for the last 38 years.  He always brightened up a room with his good sense of humour and warm friendship.  Every Sunday at mass he would greet many of us wearing his suit and tie.  He was a very faithful member of a Monday morning group organized by Larry Martel. Every morning Alastair was the first to arrive and always had the coffee ready. He played in a number of bridge groups but never caught on to the transfer convention.  He did leave us with some good sayings—sheep dip for a bad hand and here’s mud in your eye.  Alastair was a reasonable golfer who was involved the parish golf tournament and in the men’s golf tournament up Island.  We shared a room for a number of years and had many laughs before falling asleep.   Whenever I saw Alastair he asked me to give his best to Maria.  We want to give our best to him and his family. He was the best who was lucky to share his life with his best, Dorothy.

I worked at Hospice for several years and remember his amazing smile and sense of grace. He is a treasure to all that had an opportunity to know him and be with him when it was needed most.

To the Family of dear Alastair,
I've known your dad for 19 years as a volunteer with Victoria Hospice. He was a much loved and respected person in our Hospice community and he shall be missed very much.

Rest well Alistair.  You will be missed. I will always remember our time at Holy Cross especially the Monday morning  7am Cursillo get togethers , I don't think you missed a week.  Most of the group is gone  now, but the spirit lives on.  So happy you are reunited with She Who Must Be Obeyed 😄.  You were a fine man, Gunga Din.

As I read Alastair's  obituary,  I  can't help but think how fitting that it is Masters weekend.
Having had the pleasure and honour of working with him at Victoria Hospice for many years, he always kept me well informed of what was happening with the golf, which was playing on the TV.
Such a true gentleman.  So glad our paths crossed.
Condolences to you his family.

Alastair was such a warm and caring soul. He always had a smile and a funny story. I was often a reader with him and it was such a pleasure to serve with him.  He will be greatly missed . My deepest condolences  to the family.

Alistair has been such a presence at Holy Cross, serving as Reader and as Sacristan up till a few months before his passing. I always marvelled at the way he bounced up the three steps leading up to the altar! We will always remember his cheerful nature and great sense of humour. My heartfelt condolences to all the family.

My mom and I were very saddened to hear of Mr. MacIaac's passing.
We are Holy Cross parishioners .  He was the epitome of a gentleman and such a kind soul. May he rest in peace of Christ.
