We are saddened to announce the passing of Barbara, lovingly surrounded by her family on Sept. 5th, 2023 at the break of dawn. She leaves behind daughter Jillyn, son Tim( Jeany ), Nana to her adored grandchildren Tyler( Rebekah), Spencer, Sam and Gaby and close family friend Bill H. Barbara was predeceased by husband Bill in 2008 along with many relatives and close friends. She was one of five children born at home in Esquimalt. She attended school, college, worked and married in Victoria and raised her family in the home her husband built in Gordon head. She had a life long love of Yellow Point Lodge passed on by her parents in the 1940s, Qualicum Beach, Hornby Island and Kauai. She genuinely cared for others and welcomed everyone into her home with an open heart and often a pot of tea. She was an avid walker and we all struggled to keep up to her. We were well aware that she strongly preferred to be called “Barbara” not Barb, Barbie, Babs, as we would chuckle. She was always beautifully dressed and had a strong, loving and adventurous spirit. She enjoyed her Book Club gals, the Bridge ladies, entertaining her many close friends and family around the pool and had the joy of watching all her grandchildren learn to swim. She will be missed by dear friends Louise and Sue along with many others, wonderful companions and caregivers over the years. She shared her beautiful smile with many, while flowers, dancing, the ocean, travel, fresh local food and most importantly her grandbabies made her heart bounce.
A celebration of Barbara will be planned at a later date.
