On August 18th, with full and heavy hearts, we said our final goodbyes to our beloved Beverley Rae. Affectionately known as Sweet Beverley Rae, Little Bev, and Nanny. Her daughter, Pam, and granddaughters, Breanne and Dana, held her hand until the very end.
Bev was predeceased by her parents, Wilf and Margaret, her husband of 70 years, Bill, and her son Marty. She is survived by her daughter Pam, daughter-in-law Dawn, grandchildren Breanne, Dana, Taylor, Nathan, and Cheryl, and great-grandchildren Ella, Maddison, Leo, and Obi.
Born on March 12, 1928, Beverley was raised in Victoria’s Fairfield area. She attended St. Ann’s Academy and worked as a dental assistant in her early years. Later Bev joined Charmante’s and then W&J Wilson’s, where she fell in love with creating stunning window displays that showcased her creativity and impeccable taste.
Nanny loved her family with all her heart and truly gave her best to anyone she met. Her warmth, kindness, and laughter touched everyone around her. She found real joy in caring for others – whether giving a foot rub, feeding her special seagull friends, Clyde and Clydette, or serving her famous chicken and barley soup at the first sign of a sniffle – her family was her everything.
Sweet Beverley loved to settle in for “just a titch” and you’d often find her dancing to music in her beautiful Japanese-inspired garden. Anyone lucky enough to meet her, couldn’t help but fall in love with her infectious laugh and generous spirit.
We are in awe of the unwavering love and compassion shown to Nanny over the past decade. A huge heart-felt thank you to the incredible 4th-floor staff at Selkirk’s Senior Village and to everyone who cared for her at The Cedars. You gave Bev the comfort, dignity, and kindness she so deeply deserved. She was incredibly grateful for all of you, and we are endlessly appreciative of your support.
Mom / Nanny / Little Bev, you truly were the “Best of the Best” and we miss you dearly.
We love you more.
