Jan. 31, 1951-March 13, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce that Catherine passed away on March 13, 2016 at Victoria Hospice at the age of 65.
Cathy is survived by her husband Larry, her daughters Molly,
Son in law Jay, Laura, her grandchildren, Elijah, Joy and Dyllan.
Cathy was born into a military family in Summerside PEI. Her father Archie was posted to several bases throughout Canada. Her two formative postings were in CFB Trenton 1959 to 1966 and CFB Comox 1966-1969.
Cathy met Larry in Grade 10 in Comox and they both graduated at George P Vanier in Courtenay in 1969. Cathy and Larry then moved to Campbell River where Cathy was a telephone operator for BC Tel and Larry worked at the pulp mill. Cathy and Larry married in Calgary June 5, 1971 then moved to Victoria in Aug. 1971 where Larry went to Camosun College for electrical apprenticeship training. Cathy worked as a telephone operator for the parliament buildings until her first daughter Molly was born in 1975. Our second daughter Laura came along in 1977 and Cathy excelled as a stay at home mother. Cathy reentered the workforce in 1985. She worked for 3E training and retired in 2010.
Cathy’s love of her husband, children and grandchildren was her greatest legacy of which none of us will ever forget.
Cathy will be missed greatly by her friends, family and especially by her husband Larry.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for March 19th at 2:00 at First Memorial at 4725 Falaise Drive with a reception to follow.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Cathy's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Cathy’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
