I am still stunned that Dave has passed away.  I truly appreciated his travel stories and excellent wit!   He will be missed by all who had the privilege of getting to meet and know him, especially me.

It was during a holiday in the mid 90's when I met the lovely couple from Canada. We went out for dinner the same night. From the start, there was a click. Dave was a man with a great sense of humor and kindness. It was therefore my pleasure to show him and Carolyn around in Amsterdam when their cruise ship docked in our beautiful city. 
I wish I could have showed it one more time.

We are so very sorry to hear the passing of Dave. We met you both through Dave's work as an accountant and became friends. We had such a wonderful visit with Dave at the hospital and lucky he had a private room, as a lot of laughter was taking place. Dave had a wonderful sense of humor. My late husband, Michael, and I met Carolyn and Dave on a cruise around Cape Hon in 2003 and have remained friends ever since.  I have been lucky enough to see them both every time their cruises passed through NYC, and am grateful for the shared time. I will miss Dave and his gentle presence and his great sense of humor.  Carolyn, now with both Michael and Dave gone, I guess it's up to us to see each other when we can and to speak as often as possible.  My sincere condolences to you and know you will come through this.  I'm here if you need me.  Love, PJ

It is always such a loss to lose a family member, one of the Whitfield line extending back to the year 1140. You will now be able to rejoin the rest of the family who have gone before us. Peace to all.

 Of course, like many, I will always think of Dave's great sense of humour...it was a gift that he shared always. I am sorry that Dave had to go ahead of you, Carolyn, but I also know you will get strength from within to carry on. I know you will be miss your love and partner in life, especially after sharing life for 45 years of marriage. But I also can't forget to mention, that all those wonderful memories with all your great adventures and day to day experiences will always be with you and they just get better with time.
