

Beloved husband of Lilian Andersen; survived also by his children, Diane (Gordon), Ken (Karen), Leigh (Suzan), and Janet (Ken); grandchildren, Jeff, Carey, Grant, Linden, Casey, Haley, Mikaela, Scottie, and Noah; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Brooke and Paige.
Predeceased by his parents, Henry and Violet Andersen; brothers, Robert and George Andersen; grandson, Logan Andersen; and his much-loved "Muffie".
Don was born and raised in Vancouver where he attended Britannia High School and UBC.
In 1951 Don joined the Bank of Montreal and moved through the ranks until he became the youngest Bank Manager in 1962. He was assigned to the cattle regions of BC and had several major ranches as his clients, including the famous Gang Ranch west of Clinton. In 1967 he left the bank after serving in twelve branches.
Don then joined the Provincial Government as an Audit Accountant in the Superintendent of Brokers office, and soon thereafter was appointed Deputy Superintendent of Insurance in Victoria. His office was responsible for insurance, real estate, collection agents and
trust companies. After ten years, he undertook research into the stability of credit unions and trust companies to determine the impact of depositor guarantees on the Provincial Government and CDIC. In 1972 he became certified as a CPA,CGA and in 1981 he was appointed Deputy General Manager of the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch.
Don's hobby and passion for thirty-nine years was running and maintaining a sixty-year¬old, wood Ex Fisheries Patrol Boat, MV Atolla. Along with his family and friends, he explored the ports and passages of the Pacific Northwest creating wonderful memories for all on board. Don was a true original and, in spite of his ninety years, he retained a lively curiosity and interest in people, travel and exploring new ideas. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephen MacKenzie and the staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their kindness and exceptional care.
