Obituario de Dr. Donald James Armstrong
Dr. Donald James Armstrong, MD, FRCPC born October, 27, 1935, died March 18, 2022, surrounded by loved ones and beautiful music after a valiant struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Don had a long career as an anesthesiologist, serving in a number of Canadian cities: Kingston, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria before he retired. He was a perfectionist - a good characteristic in his chosen profession. He loved and was loved. He is pre-deceased by first wife, Marlene and second wife, Ingrid. He is survived by his loving partner of the past 20 years, Lynn Hunter; his children, Tim and Leonie (Anthony); his step children Megan (Chris), Paul (Nicole) and Bruce (Cathy); his step grandsons, Liam, Griffin and Callum; his adored granddaughters Rosie and Evie; his brothers Jack (Heidi) and Murray (Nancy) and sister, Marilyn (George). Don was disciplined about fitness and was an avid cyclist before Parkinson’s stole that from him. He was a man who lived his values and was a strong supporter of environmental and social justice. He will be lovingly remembered also for his dry sense of humour and his gentle kindness. Special thanks to his long time physician, Dr. Ben How for his compassionate care. A service of remembrance will be held among his community at the First Unitarian Church of Victoria on May 28 at 2PM. If you are inclined, a donation in Don’s memory to the Parkinson’s Canada Research Fund would be appreciated.
