With deep love and sadness, we announce that Donna Jean Bishop passed away peacefully in Victoria, British Columbia, April 13, 2025, with family by her side. She was 87.
Donna was predeceased by her cherished sister, Lorna. She is survived by her four children—Vicki (Brian), Don (Lynn), Brian (Barb), and Jan (Neil)—as well as eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Donna was part of the Silent Generation, growing up in the oil boom towns of Western Canada. Her childhood was shaped by frequent moves, a deep love of nature, and the strength and adaptability learned from early challenges.
Donna's life was marked by courage, transformation, and resilience. She went on to raise a family and build a meaningful career at Camosun College in the accounting section, where she worked for many years.
A proud and active member of her community, she became a mentor and friend to many. Her empathy, wisdom, and humor made her a beacon of hope and a reminder that it’s never too late to change your life.
Donna was a woman ahead of her time—witty, stylish, strong-willed, and unapologetically herself. She had many friends, and each one was important to her. Many of her children’s friends affectionately called her “Mom,” a testament to her warm presence and open heart.
She leaves behind not only a loving family, but also a legacy of compassion, resilience, and a powerful reminder to live boldly and truthfully. Donna believed in the simple mantra, “Live and Let Live,” a quiet strength that carried her through both hardship and joy. Her story, her strength, and her love will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services & Garden of Memories
