Dorian Therese Maheux

It is with a heavy heart, the family announce the passing of Dorian “Dori” Therese Maheux. At the fragile age of 96, Dori passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital on September 2, 2022. She was the youngest living daughter of family of thirteen siblings, where she was always doted on and spoiled by her older siblings. For those who met Dori, they knew she was fiercely independent, living on her own until the age of 94. She had a love and passion for gardening, knitting and a soft spot for all animals, specifically dogs, cats, and birds. Dori had many stories to tell of her life growing up and some of the hardships and adversity she had been through. It’s this adversity that made her the strong, independent person she was who hardly complained, wanted little and wasted nothing. She made the most delicious turkey a la king with Thanksgiving and Christmas leftovers and loved sharing her cooking tips and sampling others baked treats and tasty creations.

Dori was a kind and supportive mother, to her son John (pre-deceased), daughter-in-law, Joanne (pre-deceased), a wise, precious grandmother to Jason and Brigette (Glenn), a great-grandmother to Cole and Brock and a special aunt to many nieces and nephews who visited her, and offered her support throughout her later years on the island.

Dori lived a full life and was grateful for every moment. She will be deeply missed, but forever be in our hearts. There will be no service at Dorian's request. Dorian would love for you to plant something in her memory, and as you watch it grow and bloom, cherish your fond memories and conversations with her.
