Dorothy (Dot) Louise Weston (née Nicol)
April 10, 1934 – May 24, 2025
It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy "Dot" Louise Weston, beloved wife of William "Bill" Weston, who left us peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Sidney, British Columbia, at the age of 91.
Dot met Bill in high school—they became sweethearts 72 years ago and were married for 67 wonderful years. Just a few years before their marriage, she was crowned Miss Vancouver in 1950, a reflection of her elegance, confidence, and vibrant spirit that would define her life.
Together, Dot and Bill built a life full of laughter, music, and enduring love. As the wife of a dedicated Royal Canadian Air Force officer, she embraced the adventure of military life, supporting Bill through multiple postings that took their family to Chatham, Zweibrücken, Colorado Springs, Ottawa, Belleville, Tacoma, among others. In 1999, as promised, they returned to the West Coast and built their dream home on Salt Spring Island, where they enjoyed many years of island life. In 2018, they relocated to Sidney, to be closer to friends and community as they entered their later years. Dot and Bill quickly became familiar and beloved faces in Sidney, cherished for their warmth and presence.
She was a devoted mother to James (Elsa), Martin (Deirdre), and Christopher (June), and a proud Grandma to Natasha, Aleah, Silvia, and Lee. Dot was predeceased by her beloved son Christopher, whose memory she carried always. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Brad, Brent, Cindy, and Corri.
Dorothy faced many years of medical challenges, but they never slowed her spirit. Her resilience and grace were a quiet inspiration to those around her.
Her joy was contagious, especially when live music filled the air. Dorothy had a sharp wit and was the queen of one-liners, bringing laughter wherever she went.
Dot’s warmth, quick wit, laughter, and deep affection for life touched all who knew her. She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to gather with loved ones, share a story, raise a glass, and listen to music in her memory—just as she would have wanted.
