Doug was born in Victoria and went to Oak Bay High School. He belonged to the library club and the stamp club. Doug worked for the BC Government for about 40 years. He always said he enjoyed going to work because of the all the people there. He was a member of the Vancouver Island Philatelic Society, and he received his first stamps from his grandfather. Doug always enjoyed working on his stamps.
