Elvera Sara Crane

Though small in stature, she was truly mighty. Those who knew her best will remember her determination, resilience, and unwavering spirit.

Vera was born to her parents John and Mary Bergen. She was a loving big sister to her 3 brothers Walt, Art, and Rudy. Vera met the love of her life Eric Crane at a young age. They created a beautiful family of 6. Eric always had a way of talking Vera into their next great adventure. One of their greatest legacies was creating the haven that is Crane's Lochaven Lodge. As the head of the kitchen at the lodge, she ran a tight ship, ensuring every meal was prepared with care and every guest felt welcome. Her kitchen was more than a place to cook—it was where she expressed her love most generously.

She was an avid painter and devoted gardener, she found beauty everywhere and delighted in bringing it to life, whether on canvas or in the blooms that flourished under her care.

She had a special bond with animals and often shared stories of her many wild and unconventional pets, tales that never failed to entertain and amaze. She was a gifted storyteller who could captivate any audience. Whether recounting adventures from years gone by, sharing humorous memories, or describing the antics of her beloved animals, she had a remarkable ability to draw people in and leave them smiling.

Her love was evident in the meals she prepared, the gardens she tended, the paintings she created, and the stories she shared. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, creativity, and strength that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Vera loved her family with her whole heart. Vera leaves behind her 4 loving children Sandy (Buck) and their 4 children, Megan (Lyndon), Sam (Brent), John (Hannah), and Britt (Logan). Ally and daughter Alicia. Ed (Sue) and their children, Eric and Gracie. And last but not least Ty. She found great joy in watching her great-grandkids who loved and adored their Gigi. She will forever be held in the hearts of Bowen, Leni, Sully, Mack, Kodiak, Cadence, Olivia, and Connor. Vera also loved nephews Brad (Michael) and Blake (Bob) as if they were her own. She leaves behind many friends who have become like family.

May we all be so lucky to live a life so full of adventure and love. Vera will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
