Born on September 14, 1938, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he was the son of the late John and Gladys Cardy.
Eric was a man of many gifts and many stories. Over the years, he worked in a variety of roles—from delivering eggs in his early days, to exploring opportunities in real estate, to putting his skills to work as a carpenter. No matter the job, Eric approached everything with a steady work ethic, a sharp mind, and a strong sense of responsibility. He loved animals deeply and had a special way of connecting with them, a tenderness that reflected his generous heart. His sense of humour—sometimes wry, sometimes mischievous, but always memorable—brought warmth and laughter to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bev Cardy; two brothers; three sisters; his son, Bruce Cardy; his son-in-law, Russ Monsen; and his grandson, Jordan Monsen.
Eric is survived by his daughter, Vicki; eight grandchildren—Sienna, Kyle, Jason, Chelsea, Autumn, Bruce, Tessa, and Taze; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. He will be remembered with deep love and greatly missed.
