She is survived by Barry, her devoted husband of 59 years, her children Daniel and Alison, her cherished grandchildren Adelaide and Zennan, and her beloved sister Diane.
Born and raised in Victoria, Fran pursued higher education at the University of British Columbia, earning a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Social Work. She dedicated 27 years of her career to the Ministry of Social Services as a Social Worker and Policy Analyst. Her work profoundly impacted the lives of countless families, particularly through her efforts to improve access to daycare for parents. Fran made a real difference in people’s lives.
Fran had a remarkable talent for bringing people together. She loved hosting dinner parties and family gatherings, and evenings would often conclude with everyone doing the Macarena. Fran delighted in experimenting with new recipes and created memorable feasts that brought joy to those around her.
A passionate traveler, Fran led her family on adventures across the globe. In later years, she and Barry continued exploring the world together, deepening their bond through shared experiences. Her travels intertwined with her role as the family historian. Fran painstakingly researched and preserved the stories of her ancestors, culminating in a comprehensive genealogical book that will be treasured for generations.
Above all, Fran found her greatest joy in her garden. She was happiest surrounded by the plants and flowers she lovingly nurtured, creating a sanctuary of beauty and peace around her home.
Fran’s warmth, dedication, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
At Fran’s request, there will be no service. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
