

with five sisters, Fred set off to Victoria, BC to join the Royal Canadian Navy on August 17,
1954 and retired January 13, 1987.
In 1956, he met Patricia, his first love, and together they raised a family in their home on
Dunsmuir. Fred and Patricia enjoyed hosting friends, camping, and making lasting memories.
When Patricia succumbed to illness in 2003, it was a profound loss.
Throughout his life, Fred was never one to sit idle. He maintained active involvement in the
Esquimalt Softball League where both his daughter’s played and he was an avid fisherman who
was highly involved in the Work Point Boat Club. Later in life, Fred joined the local old timers’
hockey league. It was through a teammate in this league, that Fred would eventually meet his
future wife, Dianne in 2005.
During the last 19 years, Dianne and Fred had many adventures together and married in 2021.
Fred passed peacefully in the home that he loved on July 18, 2025.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Dianne, his sister Joyce, daughter Debbie-Lee, son-in-law John, grandchildren Malina, Amy, Jennifer, Shayne, and Lacey, great-grand children Everly, Finley, and Ellis, step-children Kevin (Faith), Gregory (Monica), and Kathleen (Paige), stepgrandchildren Christine, Joseph, Matthew, Katelyn, and Symber, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Fred was predeceased by his parents Roy and Areta, his first wife, Patricia, and his daughter
Kimberley.
