We weren’t able to get to the service but managed to watch it on live stream thankfully. It was lovely to learn more about Hazel’s early life and it confirms what a kind, gentle, warm person she was.

Patty and I are so, so sorry to hear of Hazel’s passing. She was such a kind and gentle person and our relationship goes all the way back to being neighbours in the Westmount area of Halifax in the 1970’s. We  pray that you will find strength in the many wonderful memories of a wonderful person.

My dear cousin has been in and around my life since her beginning.  My memories begin in Prince Rupert where her family lived just a block away from ours! Many hours spent playing at the Ridley Home. 
Many summers were spent with Hazel and family in Tatalrose doing carefree things that country kids do.  Picking wild berries was a must!  
Living up Babine Lake at the horse logging camp where we spent time carving boats from the heavy bark of the cottonwood trees , to be sent out on the waves . Uncle Casper had made a swing for us where I jumped off, the swing went back and hit Hazel in the forehead , leaving a gash.  Felt so guilty!  
I loved Hazel's beautiful smile, her joy in small things and her understated capabilities.  
Barry, Tracey and Krista….. my memories of your wife and mom are lovely . In the end, we only have memories….treasure those.

Barry: Have just heard the very sad news about the passing of your beloved wife Hazel. Although it has been a long time since we last met, I remember her vivacious personality that lit up a room the moment she entered. When we were in Yukon together so many years ago, she was a great help to my young wife, Terry who was left to her own resources so far from home in Nova Scotia when we all left to go to sea on exercises in Southern California. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss and convey them to your family.

Shocked to learn of Hazel's passing.  She was a lovely woman.  We enjoyed special times planning the Garonne canal barge trip in southern France almost 10 years ago.  Here is a picture of all those who participated in this escapade.   We have fond memories of Hazel......Norm & Joan Smyth.

We grew some more and I started to say you were my sister. Convoluted story. Relatives will understand. We were lucky to live so close for the last 45 years.
