Our Dad, James Kemp, was born in Insch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1933 to Mary & James. His family immigrated to Ontario, Canada when Dad was in his early teens and at 17, he joined the air force and served for 5 years in France before returning to Canada and making Vancouver his new home. James chose a career with BC Tel where he met his future wife Marian and after being transferred he moved with his young family to Victoria in 1971. He enjoyed a long career and retired early.
Dad lost his hearing and was quite the introvert, but regardless, he loved a good heated political debate almost right up until the end. It was very important to him that you be up on all current world events when you sat down at the dinner table! That said, the most important thing to Dad was that his family was well taken care of. We all knew he had our backs, no matter what. He was supportive of all of us in every way.
We lost Dad at the age of 90 after a long, hard fought battle with Lewy Body dementia. He will be sorely missed by his wife Marian, his son Douglas, his daughter Kathryn (Troy) and his son Rob (Laurie). Also left to mourn are four grandchildren, Nina, Sean, Samantha & Carson; his brother Harold & his family; his brother in law Harry and his nephew Bradley.
There will be a small family service at a later date. No flowers by request.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.firstmemorialsaanich.com for the Kemp family.
