

After high school, he completed a 5 year apprenticeship as a Carman with the Canadian National Railway. He changed careers in 1966 becoming a Life Insurance Agent with Confederation Life in Regina. Jim was a branch manager for the company in Regina, Edmonton and Victoria.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an active Shriner in WAWA Shrine Regina, AL Shamal in Edmonton and Gizeh in BC and Victoria as well as Past President and Secretary Treasurer of the Shrine Circus of North America.
He was a member of Uplands Golf Club; organized a Golf Tour of Scotland and premier courses for his golf buddies. He also organized an annual fund-raising golf tournament in support of CNIB and participated in other such tournaments.
Jim was actively involved in the Presbyterian Church, starting with the Youth Groups in the family church in Saskatoon, and was a member of the Boards of Management in St. Stephens Presbyterian Church, Regina, and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Victoria.
Jim met and married Jeannette in 1959 and after retirement they spent many happy hours travelling throughout the world on tours and cruises.
Jim was pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Bessie Ward. He is survived by his wife Jeannette, his sister Roberta McDowall, nephew Garth McDowall and family, niece Alison Mooney and family in California; sister-in-law Audrey Whittall, nephew Clay Schatz, and family, nieces; Janette, Sam and family, Jennifer Power and family, Wendy Braun and family, Diane Daigneault and family, all living in BC, as well as cousins in Manitoba, England and California.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
