It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Kraft at the age of 74 in Victoria, BC after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Janice was surrounded by the love of family and dogs as she made her transition.
Janice is survived by her loving husband Allan, her daughters Mellissa (James Morrissey) and Alana (Erin Mullane) and grandchildren Benjamin, Connor and Kate.
Janice was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan to Carl and Margaret Stuntebeck and later raised by Margaret and step-father Peter Petersen.
Janice met Allan in Saskatoon in 1966 while working at the Bank of Nova Scotia and they were married in 1967. The couple moved many times with banking, living in Prince Albert, Regina, Nipawin, Saskatoon, Kelowna, St. Albert and finally Victoria, making many close and lasting friendships along the way.
Janice cherished life and family above all. She was always active, volunteering, taking classes, making crafts, looking after dogs and visiting friends. Janice loved golfing, being in nature, watching the hummingbirds and gardening. She carefully tended to her roses and we all delighted in their beauty. Janice enjoyed travelling and planning trips that would involve family. Visiting her daughters and grandchildren in Alberta always brought great joy. Janice was a sports fan and treasured her time watching her grandchildren play their sports. Janice was a dog lover and had a special affinity to West Highland Terriers.
Janice will be dearly missed by her siblings; Patricia Towne, Mary-Lou (Rick) Eastman, Debra (Daryl) Haeusler, Darlene (Dean) Currie, Kevin (Liz) Petersen and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will all miss Janice’s lust for life, strength, determination, big smile and laughter. She always reminded us life is short and to live it to the fullest.
Janice believed in giving back. Donations can be made in her name to Victoria Hospice, Westie Rescue of Canada or BC Cancer Foundation.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be planned at a later date. Please contact the family for details.
