It is with sadness and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Joan Marjorie Ross who passed peacefully on May 12, 2025.
Born a twin In Toronto, Ontario. As a young girl along with her brother Richard and their mother they moved out to Victoria. She grew up on the island and built a life she came to love. She was a devoted mother and found immense joy watching the many generations of her family grow. Predeceased by her beloved mother Marjorie and twin brother Richard whose memories she carried with her always, she will be missed by her sons Ron, Rickie (Ann) and Rod, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her nieces and nephew.
She worked for over 25 years at Safeway before retiring where she was well liked and gained many enduring friendships.
She had a love of travel along with theatre and dance performances and attending these brought her genuine joy. Whether in a small local venue or a bustling theatre she delighted in the energy and creativity of the stage.
Joan lived life with spirit and spontaneity, known for her quick wit and sense of humour she was always up for an adventure. Her resilience, kindness and spark will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that donations be made in Joan’s memory to the charity of one’s choice
A small private celebration of life will be held at a later date
