Kathleen Mae Fritz (Kaye) (nee Fitzgerald). Kaye was born in Moose Jaw Sask on April 10, 1933. She was raised a Saskatchewan girl living from age 6 in Saskatoon. She entered St. Paul's Hospital Nursing School and graduated in 1955 where she flourished. Soon after she met a young man named Wes, told him she was moving to Victoria, where they have resided together for almost 60 years. Kaye loved Victoria and to her there was no place like it on earth. Kaye worked in PAR at the old St. Joseph's Hospital and then at VGH until her retirement after 26 years due to health problems. She loved a fine game of bridge and loved to curl at least twice a week for many years, again until health issues. Her take outs were legendary at the VCC. Diagnosed with cancer last fall she took on the challenge of seeing all of the people she knew at least one more time. She did this with dignity and humour. She entered hospice August 20th and felt like she had come home. Old school care for an old school nurse. It just doesn't get better than that. Sadly her stay at Hospice was short, surprising everyone by passing away early August 22. She leaves to mourn her husband of 58 years, Wes, son Jeffrey, daughter Pat (Pattie to her Mom) husband Michael and her two adored grandchildren Cameron and Carlie. She also leaves her brother Dan, wife Dawn, all of her beloved nieces, so many other loved family members near and far not to mention all of her many friends. Kaye was predeceased by many family members, but she missed and thought every day about her brother Dave and cousin Lew. TO KAYE FAMILY WAS EVERYTHING.
Celebration of life to be held at First Memorial Royal Oak August 31, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Tea to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks to make a donation in Kaye's memory and honour to Victoria Hospice.
