Leslie is deeply missed by his wife Ann and daughters Maire, Deirdre and Karen. He will also be missed by sister-in-law Anne in Dublin, many loving nieces and nephews in Ireland and England, as well as his many friends in Ireland and Canada.
Leslie was born in Dublin. He and Ann married there in 1973 and emigrated to Canada in 1975. They settled in Ontario for five years. The family then moved to Victoria when Leslie accepted a position at the Office of the Auditor General. He was proud of his years as a public servant, and of his work at the OAG over more than twenty years.
Leslie was known for the kindness, warmth and generosity that he extended to all, his music, and his wonderful sense of humour. Leslie was very proud of his Irish culture, and he loved being Irish-Canadian. He was a talented musician and songwriter, singing and playing guitar and mandolin for family and friends and on many local stages around Victoria throughout the years. He loved to volunteer and share his skills with the community. He loved to travel; he especially loved to return to his native Ireland to reconnect with family and friends. He was an avid English football fan and strongly supported Manchester City since his early teens.
Leslie’s life philosophy can be summarized in three words: Family, Faith, Friends. He was loved by many and will be forever missed by those who knew him. Leslie fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease in the last years of his life. There will be a private funeral service at Holy Cross Catholic Church. In post-COVID times, at a later date, the family will share a Celebration of Leslie’s Life with our many friends.
The family thank all the Health Care professionals who supported Leslie as his health declined.
Forever loved
Forever in our hearts.
