

Lois was predeceased by her husband Dennis Merlino, in February, 2017.
Lois is survived by her siblings, Ernest (Gladys), Lorna and John; children, Edie (Gene), Carrie (Miles), Rob (Andrea), Sharon (Ian); grandchildren, Heather (Mike), Scott (Kara), Michael (Jess), Travis, Tristan (Kaho), Taylor, Candace, Nathan, Joshua(Kiya), Mikayla; great-grandchildren Coleson, Ellis, Franklin, Juliette, Olivia, Abe, Bennett; as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and Australia.
Lois was born in Elk Point Alberta on April 16, 1939 and lived on the family farm near Onion Lake / Tulliby Lake where she enjoyed riding horses. After High School at Eston and Edmonton she worked at various jobs until she married Dennis and moved to Gold River BC where she made a career in the banking industry. They enjoyed camping and travelling all over, including many trips to Australia. When nearing retirement age they lived in the Saratoga Beach area for a few years, eventually settling in Victoria BC.
Lois’ greatest joy came from being around family and friends (and pets)and always made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, V8Y1B4, CA, on April 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
