Paris, France, where she lived for most of her life. She immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1996,
to be close to their daughter and family in Victoria.
Predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Simon, she is survived by her daughter Sylvie Bild (Bernard), grandchildren Audrey (Eitan) and Oliver (Jessica), great-grandchildren Milo, Mirielle, Penelope and Liora, and brother Alain (Josiane).
Madeleine was an incredible human being. Like a miniature sun, she was tiny and mighty, radiating good humour, laughter and a gorgeous smile. She was never afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger and made fast friends of those around her. She was beautiful inside and out, exceptionally kind, generous and gracious, and loved life.
Madeleine, Madeline, Maman, Mammy, Grande-Mammy, G-Mammy - you will always be in our hearts.
Thank you to Anna and Kat, most compassionate, loyal and caring long term caregivers, and
for the recent exceptional care of the James Bay Community Island Health nurses.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If you so wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
