Sadly our wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, sister and aunt, Marg Weber, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Victoria, BC. Marg was born in Victoria on October 4, 1927 to Rutherford (Laddy) and Florence Auchterlonie (Bryant), and lived on Pender Island when she was very young then moved to Victoria and lived there for the rest of her life. She loved her life, friends, and especially her family, of which she was very proud.
Marg married the love of her life, Jack, in 1948 and they were married for 62 years. She was predeceased by Jack, her Mother and Father, and her brother Jim and sister Doreen. She is survived by her children Mike Weber (Cheryl), Sue Henry (Steve), Wayne Weber (Wendy), and grandchildren Danny Weber (Jacky), Rishelle Weber (Paul), Justin Weber (Amber), Krystal Weber, Adam Henry (Erin), Erin Henry (Khenan), and great grandchildren Brooklynn, Ethan, Alyssa, Bria, Audrey, and Bruce, and relatives and family, Carol and Gary Rowe and family, and the Rasmussen Family. She will be missed by her many friends throughout the Square Dancing, Legion, Royal Oak Women’s Institute and greater Victoria community.
Marg grew up in Victoria, and attended South Park and Lampson Elementary and Victoria High Schools. When she was a child she spent a year convalescing, due to asthma, at the Queen Alexandra Solarium in Mill Bay contributing to her independent spirit and resilience. She curled many years with the Esquimalt Ladies and Dockyard Curling Clubs, and loved her golf, and was most proud of her hole-in-one. Mom loved her garden, especially her beautiful rhododendrons, gifted to her and Jack from their dancing friends. She was a wonderful cook, baker, seamstress, knitter, crocheter, and embroiderer. Always a welcoming hostess opening her home to friends and family. Marg and Jack’s love was Square Dancing, and they enjoyed fifty years of calling for the Promenader's Square Dance Club. For many years she was a volunteering member of the Royal Oak Women’s Institute including serving on the Executive. As a member of the Public Service Legion and in memory of her brother Jim, she volunteered with the Poppy Fund. Hers and Jack’s caring and generous dedication to their community volunteering was recognized by the Governor General of Canada when they were awarded the Caring Canadian Award in 2000. Marg and Jack enjoyed their travels to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, United States, and across Canada, and had many fun camping trips at their properties up island. She enjoyed her time living at the Renaissance Independent Living Residence, including socials and rousing games of dominoes with her friends there. The family is most grateful for the excellent and compassionate care Mom received living at the Mount St. Mary’s Long Term Care Hospital, and from caregivers while living at her home and at the Renaissance.
Until we meet again our Love.
A Celebration of Marg's Life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the First Memorial Funeral Home, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC at 2 pm.
