Mary Campbell

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Campbell announces her passing on August 5, 2016 at the age of 88. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children Dell (Steven), Darcy (Linda), Robert (Alison), Ian and daughter-in-law Sally. Mary will also be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren Jason, Daniel, Kimberley, Rowan, Elizabeth and Sarah as well as her sisters Rosaline and Shirley, brothers Harold and Rod, sister-in-law Eva as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, extended family and dear friends.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Hugh Campbell, his oldest son Hugh,

grandson Jamie and her brothers Mike, John and Ray.

Born in North Star, Alberta, on December 30th, 1927, Mary moved to Comox,

British Columbia, as a teenager, where she married her first husband John and

where her daughter Dell was born. After her first husband passed she continued

her education. She married Joseph and while living in Nanaimo her son Darcy was

born. She moved to Courtenay where she owned and operated a restaurant and

taught dancing. She spent many years as Comptroller for several large

automotive firms in Vancouver, during which time she married the love of her life,

Hugh and added his three sons to her family. She left the automotive world and

had a very successful career in real estate sales working for Nanaimo Realty. In

later years she travelled the world extensively and indulged her love of square

dancing and round dancing both here and on her annual treks to Yuma, Arizona,

where she enjoyed boon docking, the sun, flora and the natural wonders of the

desert.

Mary loved nature, dancing, was an avid traveller and made many life-long

friends on her various excursions around the world.

A service will be held for family and friends at First Memorial Funeral Services

located in Saanich at 4725 Falaise Drive on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers

Society British Columbia.
