To all that knew Mary, it is with great sadness we announce her passing at the age of 60. After struggling with Friedreich’s Ataxia for most of her life, she peacefully let go April 27, 2022, in Victoria B.C. She is now free to move in a new limitless life joining her parents (Lucy & Bob). She will fondly be remembered by her closest cousins Vicki(John), Barb(Tom), Ivan; and Friends.
Mary met with many challenges, but she had a fighting spirit and determination to live life as best she could. In her early years, she moved from Prince Rupert to Vancouver to take Hotel Management at BCIT. She enjoyed crafts at that time and made many Macrame plant hangers and needlepoint designs.
In her late 20’s, Mary made a number of trips to Hawaii and made friends along the way. With her friend Mary A., she traveled to California and received hugs by Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Winnie the Poo, Woody Woodpecker and others; and lastly, sipped Irish Coffees with friends. Another time, Mary and Mary A. cruised from LA to Mexico exploring Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucus. With her friend Ellen, she flew to a resort in Puerto Plaza, Domician Repuplic, where on the beach she had beads braided into her hair, was dipped into the Caribbean Ocean, and dined on Lobster.
Mary enjoyed various foods including: coffees, chocolate, cheesecake; and loved going to various Xmas Craft Fairs and Markets. She became a Labrador Godmother to Vicki’s & Bailey’s puppies. Some of her more exciting times were spent riding on the back of a motorcycle and riding in a canoe. Mary appreciated nature and her favourite flowers were pansies and shared her father’s enjoyment of snowball trees. People that knew Mary always enjoyed her letters and cards which were strategically decorated with specially chosen stickers.
Mary’s family and friends wish a very sincere ‘Thank You’ to all the staff at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, in Victoria B.C., who all worked to make Mary’s life more comfortable.
An Interment gathering will be held: Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1pm at First Memorial Funeral Services & Garden of Memories, Gazebo A; 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria B.C.
