I knew Mike while he was working at NRC Institute for Biodiagnostics, many years ago. Always kind, always thoughtful of others, he will be sadly missed by many. My condolences to his family, especially to Lorraine.

Dear Lorraine,
I am so sad to hear of Mike's illness and his passing. My life was deeply enriched by knowing Mike. As co-workers at NRC in Winnipeg, we soon came to share our love of music and made a habit of jamming together with other friends from work. For several years, we pushed each other forward as musicians, sometimes experimenting with unfamiliar styles, and Mike always went along with good humour and fine musicianship. I have so many memories of Mike's brilliant clarinet playing, for our own enjoyment, and for gatherings of work colleagues, friends and neighbours. 
Peace and blessings to you, Lorraine. Your clearly shown love and support for all parts of his life were huge gifts to him, and to the rest of us who knew his beautiful, generous soul.

Sadly I just learned of Mike's passing , my deepest sympathies. I was fortunate to have Mike  pass the reigns of IBD procurement to me many years ago for which I will always be grateful. I remember his beautiful car paintings on the walls of his office and was shocked by the breadth of his many talents. Mike was a true renaissance man.

Celebrating the life of a good man and mourning your loss.   I so enjoyed walking by your home with our dog and listening to Mike playing the  piano….just lingering there a few minutes and then walking away feeling better.  

As President of the Island Vintage Thunderbird Club I send Lorraine all our very best wishes and sympathy.  Mike was a highly valued member of IVTC, always ready to help, organize, or run an event and always at hand to welcome new members.  Once you met Mike you liked him and there was nothing he would not do if he could.  He was a popular member and will be greatly missed by all of us.  He was a true artist in every sense of the word, his paintings were fabulous and he could play more than one instrument but my memories of him playing the piano will always make me smile because he loved it so much.  He restored cars to original glory and if he needed a certain tool and it could not be found, he would manage to find materials, with Lorraine's help, and make his own - truly a creative man with the soul of a poet.  One of the kindest people I have had the honour to have known. Rest peacefully Mike, so sorry we have to say goodbye too soon.

I’m so sorry to hear this news. I had the pleasure of working with Mike at DAO, where he (usually) managed to keep his head when all about him were losing theirs and blaming it on him (always the way in procurement). My sincere condolences on your loss.

Loraine, I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing.  You both had such love for each other - and it was clear every time he looked at you or mentioned your name.  I hope that the many years of memories you shared will help you through this difficult time and bring you some comfort in the weeks and months to come.

My fondest memory of Mike  is him on his beautiful grand piano, and me on the couch guessing the name if the songs he was playing.

I'm so sorry to hear this Lorraine. As you so eloquently said, Mike was a kind and compassionate individual. I am grateful for his many years of patience, guidance and good humour in  steering through many of my myriad projects and his joy in sharing his hobbies and passions. One of a kind.

Mike was a very gifted man, with many talents, interests, and abilities. Living in the house behind his and Lorraine's, I often got to enjoyed hearing him  playing familiar tunes on the piano.  He will be greatly missed.

Dear Lorraine,
In life some of us have been blessed to meet a few people that have unknowingly influenced our lives in ways in which we could never imagine. It's as if they happened to be there exactly when they were supposed to be.  Mike was one of those remarkable people that we had the chance to be present with and it was truly a blessing.

When we had our first Block Party in Harbourview, Mike wanted to jam with his clarinet and asked me to bring out my guitar.  Talk about a party! Mike was self taught in all of his extensive array of artistic interests.  He was a genius and spent time working on his vintage cars, renovating his homes with true & inspired passion and was an amazing culinary artist as he created the best egg soufflé around, we got to experience that firsthand!

We are so very blessed to have been able to know and spend time with such an amazing man, a kind & beautiful soul.  We send love, hugs and thoughtful blessings to our dearest friend Lorraine at this difficult time.  We cherish all of our memories of you.........until we meet again dear friend.

Dear Lorraine

I am so sorry for your loss.  Mike was truly a unique individual.  He had a love of life and a way of seeing the beauty in all things.   I am so fortunate to have had him as a work colleague.   I remember a time when traveling to one of our meetings in Ottawa after work a group of us went for drinks.  He went back to his hotel room to change into his martini shirt so he could match the drink he ordered.   May he rest in peace.

We would be at  meeting in Ottawa, and if he saw a piano, he would rush to the seat to entertan us all.

We will not forget the delightful Sunday we spent with Mike and Lorraine in their home one afternoon when Mike donated a part from his collection to help me with my Thunderbird.  We coffee'd for a few hours, checked out the beautiful  'Bird they took their wedding day cruise in, and admired the picture-perfect piano in the living room.  Though we didn't know them well or long, they made us feel like we had been friends for years.  Mike will be truly missed in the club.  We send Lorraine our deepest sympathy in this huge loss from her life and hope she will be able to take some comfort in all the wonderful memories that surround her.

We are all so saddened by Mike’s passing, it happened much too soon.  We will remember him for his love of music, cars, art and of course Lorraine.  He was a man of many talents and happily shared these with those close to him.  He loved living on the West Coast and enthusiastically brought you to all his favorite scenic spots and the local wineries.  He was at his happiest when showcasing the beauty around him.

We will miss you Mike and our hearts go out to you Lorraine.  Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

We will always remember the fun times, the laughter and Mike's easy going personality. We always felt comfortable and welcomed in Mike's presence. The conversation between us flowed seamlessly  with this extremely kind, intelligent man.  He had many varied interests in which he had deep knowledge and would impart to us in an easy going rapport. We are extremely saddened to lose this true gentleman.
