He is survived by his two sons Nicholas (Henry) and Anthony (Amanda). Born a Cockney, Philip was raised in Brighton, Sussex where he survived intense bombing in WWII. He served in the Royal Navy and then started a career in teaching which led him to establish successful training programs at IBM UK. He married Rita in 1957. She sadly passed in 2007. He moved his family to Canada in 1974 where he enjoyed a long and successful career as an executive at IBM Canada and the Bank of Montreal. He relocated to Victoria in retirement where he reconnected with his love of the sea. He was a man of extraordinary kindness, generosity, and humour. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dianne Patterson and Zula Cormat for their extraordinary care for Philip in his final years.
A small service will be held at First Memorial Gardens in Saanich on November 3. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada (altzheimer.ca).
