On February 27, 2018. Reata passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital after a long battle with emphysema and COPD. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, October 15, 1935. Married to Nickolas Yakubowich until 1968. She is survived by her sister Isabelle Miner, brothers Arnold, Gordon, Mervin, son Bradley (Joyce nee Sadowick), grandchildren Jennifer, Lee, great grandchildren Annabelle & Elliot. Son Michael (Sue nee Lippa), grandchildren Mason, Taylor and Grace. Predeceased by brothers, Ernie, Arthur, Dave, sisters Hilda Woodard, Irene Sagel, Dorothy Siemans and Wilma Weibe.
She worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Victoria, later at Richmond Heights and James Bay where she made a life long friend Marguerite Heppell. After a bad car accident with a number of years of recovery she worked at K-mart in Victoria where she made many friends and retired. Her love of animals was unmatched. From wiener dogs to guinea pigs, there was a strong bond that surpassed even people. She enjoyed going to Emmanuel Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending. Reata did her bible study every day and looked forward to spending the rest of her life with the Lord in heaven. We know she is finally free from pain, as she has found the rest and happiness she sought for so long. A special thanks to Rene & Dr. Lisa Veres. Also thank to the Royal Jubilee Hospital staff for all their kind and professional help.
Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Stevenson Room, 2121 Cedar Hill X Road, Victoria, BC, on March 10, 2018 at 2pm. Reception to follow.
