Roger was born February 17, 1946 in Vancouver, BC and spent much of his life teaching Science and Computer Studies at Laurie Jr. Secondary School in Cranbrook, BC before moving to Victoria. Roger had a wide-range of skills, which he shared with others. He was tech savvy, an early adopter of home computers in 1983 and a devotee to Apple products, which he sold through his business, Orchard Computers. He had a special talent for building homes and furniture, embodying the carpentry adage “measure twice, cut once”. He enjoyed connection with others, and participated in regular pub nights and daily coffee with friends.
Roger loved his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Carol, with whom he shared nearly 56 years of marriage, his daughters Nicole and Marissa, and his grandchildren, Aster, Genevieve, and Tesia. He was very happy to spend time with his brother Michael (Ginny) two weeks before he passed. Roger is predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) Kitson and Joy Harford. Roger will be dearly missed by his friends and family. We are grateful for his care team, including BC Cancer Agency, for the attention to his wellbeing these past years. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
