Ron was born in Victoria, B.C. and resided here his entire life. He started his working career shortly after high school graduation with the Timber Management Division of the Ministry of Forests and remained until his retirement in 1985. It was here that he met his wife Patricia (Jones). They were married in September of 1952 and were together until her passing in 2018. These years were spent in the home he built "paycheque to paycheque" on every available evening and weekend.
Ron had a wealth of knowledge that he freely shared with all of us. He was also blessed with an incredible memory full of stories of his adventures growing up in the Gorge area. He always felt he lived in the greatest place at the best of times. He was an avid outdoors man; fishing, hunting and trap shooting for many years as a member of the Victoria Fish and Game Club. He spent his time at home with woodworking projects or tending to his ambitious vegetable and fruit garden from which we all reaped benefit.
Ron was a very kind Father and Grandfather always there to teach, guide and listen. We will forever treasure his memory and hold him dear in our hearts.
Ron is survived by his daughter Kerry (Dave) Warnock, Grandchildren Daniel (Deb), Brian and Lisa (Antha). He also leaves behind his brother Jim McLaren, sister Jean Hepburn, sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Gerald Rosson, as well as many nephews and nieces.
