Roy William Robertson age 94, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024. He was born July 20th, 1930, in Hambledon, Surrey United Kingdom to Evangeline and William Turner. After the second World War II, William Turner left leaving Evangeline with five children to raise on her own. Eventually they married and Evangeline became a war-bride with three children who sailed from England on the RMS Mauretania, carrying 943 women and children, docked at Pier 21 in Halifax on 10 February 1946. Once in Canada Roy’s life and experience took new meaning. He worked on CPR Boats and honed his skill as a Second Engineer on BC Ferries for many years. Together with his wife Sybil Robertson they raised three professional children on the Saanich Peninsula. Roy is survived by his sister Margaret and Jean and wife Sybil, son Ian Robertson, wife Jeannette, daughters Marlene, Lesley, husband Dave Stone including grandchildren Christopher, Jennifer Stone and three great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank a network of neighbors who were there in hour of need. Also, the professional doctors and nurses at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their knowledge and guidance. Roy Robertson will be truly missed.
