Shirley Lousia Hansen

Mom was born in Toronto, Ontario on April 20, 1936, to Bob and Mabel Smith. In 1948, Mom along with her sister Margaret (deceased), her brother Bob and parents, moved to Sidney, B.C. This is when she met her lifelong best friend and co- conspirator, Carol. Mom was a member of the Daughters of the Nile from 1973 to date, and was also involved with Job’s Daughters Bethel #2, along with Darlene, for many years. She loved her job at the Hudson Bay and made many friends during that 25 years.

Mom was predeceased by Dad (Harry) in 2021, which left Mom heartbroken. During their life together they travelled to Europe, China and many trips across Canada and the U.S. in their motorhome. As a member of Shawnigan Lake Y.S.A.G., Mom spent many hours there enjoying her Knitting, Quilting, Crib, and formed many new friendships. Mom loved being a Grandma, whether she was knitting one of her grandchildren something, playing with them, taking them camping, or just sitting talking with them.

Mom is survived by, and will be greatly missed by her children David (Gayle), Darlene (Ken), Brian (Lisa), grandchildren Danielle (Dallas), Adrienne (Wilco), Mark (Alyesha), Dane (Mikayla), Brooke (Will), great-grandchildren Casey, Laney, Averie, Graycen, Addison, Marlee, Josie, Baby Odessa (pre-deceased 2025), brother Bob (Sandy), sister-in-law Elaine, many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
