Predeceased by his parents William and Ellen, and his beloved wife Wendy (Moir).
Survived by his loving wife Mariel (Grant), cherished daughters Jennifer, Kate, and Molly Anne, and sons-in-laws Claudio Crespi and Sean Jenses, grandchildren Matthew and Daniela Crespi and Maggie-Lis and Grace Jenses, sister Marilyn Webber, and a loving extended family.
Born in Vancouver, 13 July 1940, Stuart graduated from Lord Byng High and UBC. Awarded the Rhodes Scholarship for British Columbia (1962), he obtained a doctorate in History from the University of Oxford in 1966 and joined the faculty at Trent University, Peterborough, Ontario. A true scholar and exemplary teacher, Stuart was unwaveringly kind and gentle and had an irreverent sense of humour.
