

He was born on January 5, 1926, in Victoria, TX, to the late Hans Ludwig and Victoria (Lingner) Weigand. Allan is survived by two daughters, Bettye Jean (David) Pribyl of Victoria, TX; Laura Elizabeth (Barry) Martin of Wytheville, VA; one sister, Elizabeth Lautner of New Braunfels, TX; three granddaughters, Anjanette Elaine (Pribyl) Fussell of Georgetown TX, Shelley Lynne (Donald) Shroyer of Wimberley, TX, and Melissa Christine (Dr. Andrew) McDavid of Salado, TX; one grandson, Cory Allan Parker of Wytheville, VA; eleven great grandchildren; one great, great granddaughter, and one nephew, David (Vickie) Lautner of Bulverde, TX and family, Katherine (Carson) Conwell of New Braunfels, TX., and Jonathan and Zachary Lautner of Bulverde, TX.
Our family would especially like to thank the staff at Frank Tejeda State Veterans Home for their loving care of our father. Also, our sincere appreciation is extended to Odyssey Hospice for their wonderful support during this difficult time.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 57 years, Vina Pollock Weigand; his parents; and one nephew, Edward “Scooter’ Weigand Lautner.
World War II was in full swing when Weigand graduated from Victoria Jr. College and he decided to enlist in the military. He proudly served his country in the US Navy for two years active duty and then served 15 years in the Reserves. Following his discharge he decided to return to school and pursue a law degree at the University of Texas in Austin. Following graduation, he returned home to Victoria and joined his father’s insurance firm while also practicing law. He also served as Victoria Corporation Court Judge for many years.
In October 1971, Weigand joined Alvin Boyd, John Brimberry, Roger Dawson, Joe Hall, and Ervin Vrazel in founding Professional Insurance Agents, Inc. (P.I.A.).
He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as a church elder. Weigand also served the church in various positions at local and state levels including serving ten years on the Board of Trustees for Texas Lutheran College. He was a member of the Victoria Lions Club, the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, the Victoria Bar Association, the Victoria Horsemen’s Club and was a former past President of the Victoria Association of Insurance Agents.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home with full military honors. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the memorial service. Private burial services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria.
