She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Royal R. Drake. Along with her children John Drake (Donna), James Drake (Joni) and Kimberly Charles (Eddie).
On April 5, 1958 Anita and Royal were married beginning their life long journey together. As a wife of a United States Naval serviceman for 22 years, she embraced a life marked by sacrifice and strength. Throughout countless changes in duty stations and long deployments she carried the weight of family life with grace and resilience. She remained steadfast in her commitment to her husband and children, embodying the often unseen sacrifices made by military families. After their retirement from the military in September 1974, they made Victoria, Texas their home in 1976.
She leaves behind seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She would drop everything without hesitation to help, comfort, and support them. Her love for them was boundless and unwavering.
Anita is also survived by her sisters, Sara Ford, Elma Mayfield, Guadalupe Sands, Olga Torres, and Dora Pompa, as well as her brother, Daniel Torres.
Anita was predeceased by her parents, Juan and Edubigen Escobedo Torres, her sisters, Mary Torres, Adela Cano, and Margie Torres, and her brothers, Marcos Torres and David Torres.
A celebration of Anita's life will be Sunday the 8th of February at two o’clock in the afternoon at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chip Reynolds officiating.
