

Arlie “Curley” Leo Williams, 89 of Victoria passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 after a long illness. He was born on November 15, 1926, in Edna to the late Victor Otis and Virgie Francis Solomon Williams. Curley served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge on December 25, 1946. In 1948, Curley married Lillian M. Baros of Yoakum, Texas.
Curley was an accomplished musician and became the manager of the Southernair's, a country and western band, that played in cities across Texas. He also worked for Sky Top Brewster for many years and then went on to establish his own oil field services business, Curley Williams, Inc. After retirement, Curley volunteered at the Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry (VCAM) for 10 years. He has been a long-time member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Marie Baros Williams of Victoria, daughters, Patricia Church of Destin, Florida, Betty Gwosdz of Victoria, and Janice Haecker and husband, Mike of Austin. Grandchildren include Johnyce Grahmann of Victoria, Melanie Pyle of Williamsburg, Virginia, Mattie Williams of Victoria, Benjamin Williams of Victoria, Troy Stindt, Jr. of New Braunfels, Tara Carmack of Honolulu, Hawaii, Whitney Stupka of Boise, Idaho, Natalie Haecker of Austin, and Alex Haecker of Ft. Worth. Curley’s great grandchildren include Justin and Brandon Grahmann, Fallon Hinkle, Ethan and Devon Brister, Caydence Olsen and Koben Williams, Colton, McKenzie and Caylen Stindt, Bailey and Tyler Carmack and two great-great grandchildren Trey Cisneros and Zaydyn Hinkle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Norman L. Williams of Mt. Belview, and sons, Alan and Ronnie Williams of Victoria.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 7 pm Friday, May 6, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Kristopher Fuchs officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Baros, Mike Haecker, Benjamin Williams, Justin Grahmann, Buddy Williams, James Spacek, Elton Polzin and Chris Grahmann.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory, Eternally We Build Capital Campaign, 1309 E. Mesquite, Victoria, Texas, 77901.
