Carl V. Rush Sr. passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025. He had resided in Meadows Place, TX, for the past 48 years. Carl lived a full life dedicated to his family and career. Carl was born on May 19, 1929, to Willie Mae Paulk Rush and Vernice Vernon Rush in the house where he grew up and was delivered by his grandfather, Dr. John W. Rush, in Bloomington, TX. He grew up there and enjoyed a multi-sport career at Bloomington High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years. After completing his Naval service, he returned to Bloomington, and on a chance encounter at the Schroeder Dance Hall, he met his future bride, Della Mae Heller. They celebrated 71 years of marriage last July 4th.
Carl loved his job and had a long career with the Oil and Gas Division of the Dow Chemical Company. He was willing to go wherever the company needed him, and that resulted in his being transferred four times, three in Texas and one to Kansas. He started his career as a clerk and advanced from office manager to ultimately retiring as Purchasing Manager for the Oil and Gas Division of the Dow Chemical Company in 1982. During retirement, he enjoyed spending time on the family place in Schroeder and traveling the U.S.
Carl was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and Eastern Star, as well as a Shriner.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife Della Mae; sons Carl Jr. (Missy) and Russell, both of Houston; Grandson Chris Rush of Galveston, granddaughter Erin Hancock (Wallace) of Richmond; grandson Ryan Rush of Austin; granddaughter Jennifer Poynter (Blaine) of Katy; granddaughter Lauren Clark (Brad) of Plano; a great granddaughter Finley Hancock and two great grandsons Weston Hancock and Cavan Poynter. He is also survived by his brother Don Rush and wife Pat of Lufkin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John Rush (Doris), Arbury Rush (Joan), as well as two sisters, Dorothy Nell Dickehut (Herbert) and Doris Daughtry (Merlyn).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 202,5, at 1:00 PM and conducted by family friend Chaplain CJ Waller at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, Victoria, TX. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers are Chris Rush, Ryan Rush, Blaine Poynter, Wallace Hancock, Brad Clark, and James Heller. Johnny Rush is an honorary pallbearer.
