Clifford Townsend Jr.

Clifford Townsend, Jr. born August 12, 1930, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Mary Eilers Townsend. He passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 94. When he was three years old, he moved to Texas and was raised on the family farm in DaCosta. He was called to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War; after the war he returned to the family farm. On August 4, 1955, he married Rachel McDonald and together they cherished 69 years together. He worked at Union Carbide and retired after 32 years. Clifford was a farmer and was very active in the DaCosta Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief for many years. He loved fishing and hunting with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Rachel; sons Scott (Marlisa) and Keith (April). Grandchildren Aaron Townsend (Anna), Ashley Brown (Jason), Heather Townsend, Jessica, Samantha, and Kristi Townsend. Great Grandchildren Thomas; Claudia; Lillian, and Sylvia. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott and Keith Townsend, Aaron and Thomas Townsend, Jason Brown, Victor Neisser, Jr., Brian Adamek and Brandon Lala. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Ashley, Heather, Jessica, Samantha and Kristi; Bruce McDonald, Shane Lala, Dwight McDonald; and all members of the DaCosta Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church; DaCosta Volunteer Fire Department; or Hospice of South Texas

Family and friends will gather at the DaCosta Volunteer Fire Department for a light meal after graveside services.
