

David Newsome Huebner was born on August 29, 1934 in Lane City in Wharton County Texas to George Lee Huebner and Leta Belle Taylor Huebner; the youngest of five sons from a prominent ranching family. He became proficient at numerous disciplines including music. He attended schools in Lane City and Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School where he met the love of his life, Ruth LaVerne Brandt, who would become his wife of more than 60 years. David was an Aggie, having attended Texas A & M University at College Station. Following in his brother’s footsteps, he became a licensed pilot at a young age and was known to fly his own plane over Ruth’s college dorm in Huntsville.
David and Ruth married on April 21, 1956 and they lived in Fort Worth, Texas where he worked as a pilot for American Flyers They moved to Victoria in 1958 where David worked at Foster Field and then as a private pilot for the Braman family, a position he held for over 20 years. David’s incredible talent for being able to fix anything or invent whatever he needed to fix anything led him to open his own business; David’s Car Care. He retired from the workforce at age 79, having served as Manager of Maintenance at the South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind.
The most important thing David did for his family was to fervently love his wife. It was a love that transcended their relationship and enveloped his children and entire family. David was a man of superior intellect, integrity, and strength combined with tenderness, warmth, and humility. He poured the best of himself into his family and they were all made confident by his boundless gift.
Following a brief illness, David passed into heaven on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Victoria, Texas at the age of 82.
He is survived by his wife Ruth and their three children; Barry Huebner (Shirley), Sharon Huebner Barnard (Patrick), and Lynly Huebner Camp (J.C.) all of Victoria. The joy of David’s life included his grandchildren and they loved their Pa Man; Shannon Huebner, Brandon Huebner (Raquel), Ryan Barnard, Brandt Barnard (Jenica, dec.), David Barnard, Marcus Camp (Daniala), Jenalyn Camp Sheblak (Carl). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Dakota Hamilton, Cheyenne Sappington, Branson Sappington, Brenham Hinkle, Sahara Hinkle, and Bradley Huebner. His brothers; Bert L. Huebner (Dorothy) of Bay City, and William G. Huebner (Jutta) of Houston. David’s numerous nieces and nephews held him in the highest regard and will greatly miss him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; George Lee Huebner, Jr. and Marcus Taylor Huebner.
His family will honor his memory with a private graveside service on Friday; December 9, 2016 with Pastor Mike Singenstreu officiating. Pallbearers will be his seven grandchildren. David’s legacy will reflect his life of devotion to his family.
Services are under the direction of Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Jenica Edge Barnard Memorial Fund, c/o VISD Education Foundation.
