

Delia Delinda Castro Barrera passed away on November 7, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fidel Herrera Barrera Sr.; parents, Pablo and Segunda Castro; brother, Luciano Castro; sisters, Margarita Trevino and Dionecia Castro. She is survived by her sons, Fidel Herrera Barrera Jr. of Victoria, and Fernando Barrera of Victoria; grandchildren, Chelsea Barrera, Jesse Barrera, Justin Campbell, Duane Campbell, Keeley Salinas and Julia Barrera.
Delia was born October 16, 1938 in Agua Nueva, Texas on her family ranch. She graduated from Hebbronville High School in 1958 and later attended Seminary in Salt Lake City, Utah where she learned skills that she would use for many years working as a Sunday School teacher and language interpreter. In 1968 she married Fidel Barrera in Alice Texas where they lived until moving to Victoria in 1974. Delia spent the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s raising her sons with her husband and taking care of other family members in need, never asking anything in return, selflessly giving to others.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7- pm Friday, November 11, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels followed by a service at 7 pm. Graveside services will be at 10 am Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
