Delphine Ohrt Schaefer

Delphine Ohrt Schaefer, 96, of Victoria passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010. She was born in Victoria February 23, 1914, to the late Gerhardt and Lydia Jaschke Ohrt. She and her late husband, Nelson “Bip” Schaefer owned and operated Schaefer Grocery for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society, The Catholic Daughters and Independent Cattlemen’s Association. She volunteered at DeTar Hospital and played bridge with several groups in Victoria.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson “Bip”Schaefer; two brothers, Marion and Dennis Ohrt; her sister in law, Burnette Ohrt; and a niece, Linda Ohrt.

She is survived by her sister in law, Mary Ann Ohrt ; nephew, David Ohrt and wife, Janice; nieces, Sandra Hester and husband, Darrell, Denyce Beyer and husband, Michael, and Marcie Butschek, all of Victoria; Judy Sinast and husband Melvin, of Yorktown; ten great nieces and nephews and eleven great great nieces and nephews. She was blessed with the love and care from the staff of Main Street Personal Care.

Visitation and wake will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from 6 to 8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with mass to follow at 10 AM with Rev. Celestino Say and Rev. Augustine Ashanti officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Masuoleum.

Pallbearers will be Ty Sinast, Garrett Ohrt, Clay Ohrt, Chad Hester, Taylor Strauch and Bryce Butschek.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Main Street Personal Care, Joyce’s TLC Staff and Homewood Staff.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society, a charity of choice or masses.
