

Earl Ernest Bluhm Jr., 86, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, dying peacefully at home in Austwell, TX. Earl was born November 11, 1939 in Austwell, TX to the late Earl Ernest Bluhm Sr and Flora Faye Cauble Bluhm. He met the love of his life, Barbara Gail Farris in Austin and they got married on December 25, 1959. They had 2 children. He was later married to Fay Ahr on August 10, 1984, and gained another daughter by marriage.
Earl began his career as a very young man working in the cotton gins in Austwell, TX in 1949 through 1956 while still in high school. He graduated from Austwell -Tivoli High School located in Austwell TX in 1957. He made his way to Austin, TX in 1958 and began his long and illustrious career as an electrical contractor, being a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 520. He had just achieved his 60-year pin from IBEW in March 2026. Later, after retiring in 1996, he moved back to his beloved hometown to take care of his parents.
Outside of his electrical career, Earl found joy donating his time, talents and knowledge to his beloved City of Austwell where he assisted in many different beautification projects in addition to serving as a building inspector for the city for numerous years.
Affectionately known as “Junior” to those who loved him, Earl was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends, his memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. We ask that he be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the beautiful way it was lived and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Those who knew Earl will forever remember his infectious smile, his overwhelming kindness, and his deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ. He was devoted to sharing the Gospel with everyone he encountered and lived his faith through both word and action. Earl was a loving provider who cared deeply for his family and was always ready to offer a helping hand, wise advice, or words of encouragement to his children.
He also possessed a rare gift for storytelling, captivating those around him with tales of adventures, life experiences, and cherished memories that brought laughter and joy to so many. The silence left behind is profound, and the stories that once filled every room with warmth and laughter will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy May Bluhm Cunningham; first wife, Barbara Gail Farris Bluhm; and his second wife, Fay Bluhm.
He was survived by his loving children, son Lloyd Murray Bluhm (wife Gloria) of Austin and daughter, Kelly Lynn Bluhm Herms (husband Rodney) of Luling; step-daughter, Cheryl Herms (husband Ernie) of Luling; and brother, James (Jimmy) Bluhm of Mission Valley; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Earl Ernest Bluhm, Jr. will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel, located at 3304 E Mockingbird Lane in Victoria, with a meal and visiting following the service at the Austwell Community Center, located at 311 Bay Street in Austwell.
