

Edward J. Stasny, Sr., 76, of Victoria passed away peacefully Monday, March 28, 2016 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 10, 1939 in Agua Dulce to the late Walter A. and Della Marie Kristek Stasny. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Robstown in 1958. He then began working in the oil field as a roughneck, working his way up through the ranks for over 30 years until he became a successful, much sought after fishing tool supervisor.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Schmidt Stasny whom he married June 18, 1960 in Agua Dulce; daughter, Kimberly Garrett (Mark); sons, Edward “Bubba” Stasny, Jr. (Rachel) all of Victoria, Clifford James Stasny (companion, Corie) of Fannin, and Jeffery Walter Stasny (companion, Lori) of Victoria; sisters, Anna Garner of Goliad, Janice Shanks of Corpus Christi and Linda Wright of Alice; brothers, Walter Stasny (Elsie) of Alice; Robert Stasny of Cedar Park, and Larry Stasny (Cathy) of Midland; grandchildren, Kelly Kucera, Holly Parker, Kyle Stasny, Krystle Shelton, Kynzie Stasny, CJ Stasny, Shelby Stasny, Simon Loos and Amy Stasny; seven great-grandchildren; his beloved K9s, Sammie and Jeffe.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 pm Friday, April 1, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Stasny, CJ Stasny, Shelby Stasny, Simon Loos, Casey Kucera, Matthew Shelton and Shawn Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Kate Kucera, Garrett Kucera, Kameron Parker, Hays Parker, Ty Shelton, Koy Shelton, Jay Shelton, Shelby Goslin, Amanda and Randy Wilburn.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Mark Stevens, Harbor Hospice, Courtney Haschke, Patti Cantu, Debbie Hardee and Anna Ramirez.
